Mark Millar Throws Shade at Marvel Movies

"It’s not like Marvel can do no wrong."

Mark Millar has more than earned the right to talk shit about comic books and their movie adaptations. The dude has written Civil War, Wanted, Kick-Ass, and a grip of other comics—several of which have been turned into movies. Even the Queen of England has recognized these efforts, making him a member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire.

Because of this we listened up when Millar discussed Marvel's missteps and the cinematic handling of Spider-Man

"What’s great about Spider-Man coming back, from someone who was baffled by the last two Spider-Man movies, is that this feels like Spider-Man coming home," Millar said in an interview with IGN. "It’s not like Marvel can do no wrong, I mean Thor: The Dark World wasn’t very good and Iron Man 2 wasn’t very good, they have their misfires. But Spider-Man is the holy grail for them. And all eyes are on them now, so they have to bring their A-game to it."

He also talked about Spider-Man possibly appearing in Captain America: Civil War, saying it isn't a necessity. "It’s funny though, people always keep saying to me that you can’t do Civil War without Spider-Man, but in the comics he’s only in six pages," he said.

Let's just hope we're not the only one listening to Millar. The dude still works with Fox, but Sony could benefit from his wisdom.
