What's more scandalous than getting caught using an Earthlink, AOL, or Hotmail email address? If you're in government, not using an official government email. And Hillary Clinton just got popped for using her own personal email address for four years while serving in Obama's State Department.  That move may have violated federal requirements that government correspondence be retained as part of a traceable record.

“It is very difficult to conceive of a scenario — short of nuclear winter — where an agency would be justified in allowing its cabinet-level head officer to solely use a private email communications channel for the conduct of government business,” Jason R. Baron, a lawyer at Drinker Biddle & Reath, who is a former director of litigation at the National Archives and Records Administration, told the New York Times.

The reason isn't just for internal tracking within cabinet positions, but also because the government servers are supposed to be more secure and cutting edge than any piddling private email. There is no penalty for not complying, but it does look fishy if she's planning on running for President in 2016. Jeb Bush has already handed over official emails dating back to 1998 to be combed through.

A Clinton spokesperson told the Times that the former Secretary of State followed the "letter and spirit of the rules" in her email usage. Her team has selected tens of thousands of personal emails by Clinton to be looked over. But, As the Presidential race for 2016 is officially beginning, Clinton should still expect an "Email-Gate" to follow for the mere appearance that she's hiding something. Guesses on what her personal email handle was? zerofucksgiven?
