Apparently, there's something going on in Austin, Texas this week aside from SXSW: Racism. A series of stickers which read "Exclusively for white people. Maximum of 5 colored customers, colored BOH (Back of House) staff accepted" have appeared on local storefronts, officials say.

NBC News reports that the stickers first appeared around 7 a.m. yesterday morning in the historically black neighborhood of East Austin. According to KXAN, an employee at Sugar Mama's Bakeshop spotted the sticker while opening the store, but NBC News adds that they sprang up in other locations:

A taco eatery, grocery store and bike shop were also among the targeted businesses. City officials and police said they are monitoring the situation.

In a statement released yesterday, Austin Mayor Steve Adler denounced the stickers as "an appalling and offensive display of ignorance in our city." KXAN notes that the Austin Police Department and Public Assembly Code Enforcement have been alerted about the stickers.
