Everyone wants to copy something that works, and PornHub has tried to translate Jimmy Kimmel's popular "Mean Tweets" segment into something that worked for their site. They hit up various porn stars and had them read comments about themselves from sites like Brazzers.com while a laugh track and a rip-off of R.E.M.'s "Everybody Hurts" played in the background. But instead of being a hilarious hit like Kimmel's incarnation, PornHub's comes off as exploitative, sad, and yes, straight up mean.

Why? Well, because we read about celebrities, we watch their interviews, we see them perform various characters, and we know their voices and personality just enough that whenever they read the tweets there's at least a little built in "WTF?" reaction to the meanness they receive. Secondly, tweets are intrinsically less anonymous than comments—there's a little bit of public shaming of folks being dicks in Kimmel's "Mean Tweets"—so here the porn stars are sort of hung out to dry. Third, adult stars are already exposing themselves online in a difficult-to-monetize world, and mean comments in that arena are way harsher than they are to multi-million dollar athletes and actors. Fourth, it's their body.

But, hey, maybe you'll see your commenter handle in the video above and realize you're an asshole. Or maybe you'll watch and be glad to see Mia Malkova stand up for her personal body choices.
