Scarlett Johansson knows the Internet is having a field day with the above image from the Oscars. Despite its readily apparent creepiness she's insisting there's nothing "strange, creepy, or inappropriate" about John Travolta. She talked to the Associated Press to clear things up:
"The image that is circulating is an unfortunate still-frame from a live-action encounter that was very sweet and totally welcome. That still photo does not reflect what preceded and followed if you see the moment live. ... I haven't seen John in some years and it is always a pleasure to be greeted by him."
If you watch the full video of their encounter Johansson's story adds up. But all that proves is Travolta wasn't being creepy in this particular moment. He was very much creepy later in the night while proving he can pronounce Idina Menzel's name, and he was very much creepy while explaining to Jimmy Kimmel why he mispronounced it in the first place.
John Travolta stays creepy. Stay woke.
