CHAPPiE is no ordinary robot. In fact, homeboy is a badass modified police robot who can think and feel for himself.
In the new film from director Neill Blomkamp (Elysium, District 9), we follow CHAPPiE (Sharlto Copley, also of Elysium and District 9) on his journey from ordinary robot to self-aware being, alongside an all-star cast that includes Hugh Jackman, Sigourney Weaver, and Dev Patel (Slumdog Millionaire).
As CHAPPiE’s intelligence and emotions evolve throughout the film, he’s able to pick up skills way quicker than any mere mortal can. And on March 1, he'll be setting his sights on crushing all comers in a 4-on-1 video game tournament featuring the Evolve.
Evolve too is about evolution (as you might have guessed from the name). It’s a highly strategic game that pits four human players against a fifth monster player in adrenaline-pumping 4-on-1 matches. Twitch came up with the dope idea of combining CHAPPiE and the game Evolve in an ultimate live streaming video game.
Back in early February, teams of four gamers began signing up for the tournament and started battling their way through opponents. On March 1, the final four left standing will face off against CHAPPiE himself in Los Angeles, CA. Whether four humans are any match for the most advanced robot the world has ever seen is a guess. If they are, the big winner receives $15K and $5K goes to the team in second place. Catch all the action yourself, as the final showdown will be streamed live on Twitch.tv.
