Patrick Stewart Says He'll Be in a "Wolverine" Movie

Stewart also says that Ian McKellen will be in "X-Men: Apocalypse."

None

Patrick Stewart got pretty chummy in an interview with The Oregonian. The actor has spent a lot of time filming in Portland over 2014, playing a  ballet instructor with secrets in Match, and a skinhead who takes a punk group hostage in The Green Room. But he knows that y'all want to know what's happening in the X-Men universe. According to Stewart, it turns out that actors who've played X-Men will continue to play X-Men in different X-Men movies. But Professor X (Stewart) and his former-friend/current-nemesis Magneto (Ian McKellen) will be separated for the next installment.

Stewart said previously that Apocalypse will focus on the more youthful James McAvoy (X) and Michael Fassbender (Magneto) in the next film, but Stewart tells The Oregonian that McKellan "certainly" is in X-Men: Apocalypse. It's Stewart's Professor X who will not appear.

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood ...

1.

Don't fret though, Stewart mentioned that he is in discussions to join Hugh Jackman in the final Wolverine spin-off. "Wolverine and Professor Xavier," Steward mused. "That would be a very different sort of X-Men from the four movies that I've already done."

That Wolverine sequel is set for March 2017, and is slated to have James Mangold back at the helm. Jackman has said that he is "99.9 percent sure it will be his last (time that he plays Wolverine)."

Stewart has no walking-away-from-X timetable. X is an unknown variable.
