That one rumor from last year that got movie nerds to simultaneously scratch their heads and thank the heavens is beginning to look more like a reality now. That's right, the Jump Street/Men In Black crossover is even closer to being developed over at Sony. Phil Lord and Chris Miller, directors of the Jump Street franchise, recognize how left field a hybrid of these universes would be, but that's exactly what they believe will elevate it above expectation. Miller stated:

It’s very, very early on in this crazy fever pitch, but it’s definitely a really interesting concept that makes you think. Talking about it, developing it with Jonah and Channing and Rodney and the studio, we can’t just do the, “Hey, it’s the same thing again” schtick because we did that already.

Over at Sony there is total chaos as the studio makes some drastic internal changes, but the fact that the directors are aggressively moving forward with developing the project means it's for real. Phil Lord and Chris Miller made singing Legos feel like revolutionary cinema, so I am confident they can work their magic to make this crossover an epic success.

Agent J, Agent K, Schmidt and Jenko. A bromance made in buddy-cop movie heaven.
