Officials say the man suspected of killing a University of Virginia student last year has been charged with murder.

CNN reports that Jesse Matthew, 32, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Hannah Graham. Graham, 18, went missing in Charlottesville, Va. in mid-September. Remains which were eventually identified as Graham's were discovered the following month. Matthew was arrested in Texas in September after surveillance footage and additional investigation prompted authorities to finger him as the suspect in her disappearance.

What's more, Matthew is a suspect in a series of similar disappearances and deaths which have happened in the area. He also faces charges for sexually assaulting a woman in Fairfax, Va. back in September 2005

Prior to the murder charge, Matthew had been held on charges for abduction with the intent to defile.
