Did Director David O. Russel Curse Out Jennifer Lawrence on the Set of Their New Movie?

David O. vs. J. La?

Jennifer Lawrence was christened as America's Sweetheart over the past three years, and that is largely in part due to the epic success of her collaborations with director David O. Russell. The duo has churned out award-winning fare such as American Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook, the latter winning Lawrence an Oscar for Best Actress and Best Fall While Accepting an Award. While they constantly sing each other's praises in interviews, TMZ reports that Russell was seen aggressively cursing Lawrence out on the set of their new film, Joy

"We're told there was a loud argument Tuesday on the Boston set between David and Jennifer, and it started over a scene. The eyewitness says David started screaming at her ... it was ear-piercing and laced with profanities."

Anyone familiar with Russell's legacy knows he is notorious for verbally abusing cast members and having productions shut down before completion. However, Jennifer Lawrence took to her Facebook in an attempt to clear the air and defend her favorite director:

"I know I don't go on here a lot because I can barely work email, but there's been a terrible rumor going around the last 24 hours so I wanted to clear it up. David O. Russell is one of my closest friends and we have an amazing collaborative working relationship. I adore this man and he does not deserve this tabloid malarkey. This movie is going great and I'm having a blast making it!"

Could this all be a misunderstanding? Method-acting gone awry? Or could it be an ugly repeat of what happened on the set of I Heart Huckabees and J. La is just trying to be diplomatic for the movie's sake?

Whatever the case may be, it could make or break Joy. I hope it's the former.
