The emergence of video footage showing a police officer in Florida slapping a homeless man has resulted in the officer's suspension.
According to the Associated Press, the incident took place on Sunday at a Broward County bus terminal. After pushing 58-year-old Bruce Laclair to the ground, Officer Victor Ramirez is seen grabbing him by the arm and forcefully slapping him in the face. According to Local 10, Laclair and Ramirez clashed when Laclair refused to leave the terminal, claiming that he had to use the bathroom.
Laclair was arrested on trespassing charges, but the Fort Lauderdale Police Department launched an internal investigation which resulted in Ramirez being suspended with pay.
