Like pretty much everybody these days, Woody Allen has seen the light and realizes that TV is where it’s at.

Amazon Studios announced this morning that the Academy Award-winning director will write and direct every episode of a brand new series, which will (naturally) be produced by Amazon. They offered no further details on the show itself, saying only that it will be available on Prime Instant Video sometime in 2016.

Allen said that “I don’t know how I got into this. I have no ideas and I’m not sure where to begin. My guess is that [Amazon Studios Head] Roy Price will regret this.”

Price seemed a bit more bullish on the idea of Allen’s involvement, saying that “Woody Allen is a visionary creator who has made some of the greatest films of all-time, and it’s an honor to be working with him on his first television series. From Annie Hall to Blue Jasmine, Woody has been at the creative forefront of American cinema and we couldn’t be more excited to premiere his first TV series exclusively on Prime Instant Video next year.”

Whatever the series is, it’s a virtual lock that Allen will somehow find a role for Emma Stone.
