Tom Hardy Drops Out of “Suicide Squad”

The Suicide Squad is down one villain, as Tom Hardy has dropped out of the movie.

According to a tweet from The Film Stage, the upcoming DC Suicide Squad movie is already losing one of its stars:

Tom Hardy has bailed on the ensemble movie in which he was supposed to play Rick Flagg, the titular group’s leader. Reports say that his departure is scheduling-related, as shooting The Revenant for Oscar nominee Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu is taking longer than expected. However, perhaps he is leaving simply because the allure of starring alongside Will Smith, Margot Robbie, and Jared Leto simply was not enough of a rush for Hardy, who seems to be taking onscreen mania to the next level in the insane-looking Mad Max reboot.

As for who will be replacing Hardy, THR is reporting that DC is already targeting Jake Gyllenhall, who proved rather adept at playing a completely mentally unhinged character in Nightcrawler.
