Son Kills Hedge Fund Manager Father at New York City Apartment

Police in New York City say the manager of a $200 million hedge fund was killed by his son at the older man's lavish apartment yesterday.

The New York Daily News reports that 70-year-old Wainscott Capital Partners founder and president Thomas Gilbert, Sr. was shot in the head at his East Side apartment yesterday afternoon. His 30-year-old son, Thomas Gilbert, Jr., fled the scene. The elder Gilbert's body was discovered by his wife around 3:30 p.m., and a Glock 22 .40-caliber handgun was recovered inside of the apartment. 

According to the Daily News, police forced their way into Gilbert, Jr.'s apartment around 10:45 p.m. last night and found him hiding there. The Daily News adds that he "appeared stone-faced" as police led him away in handcuffs. 

A motive for the murder has yet to be identified.
