Sorry, Florida. You can’t be No. 1 in every ratchet crime, apparently. This time, the winner of the “highest student-teacher sex ratio” award—classified as a teacher being reported, accused, or convicted of having sex with one of his/her students—goes to the Heart of Dixie, Alabama.

According to a recent study performed by former U.S. Department of Education chief of staff Terry Abbott, one teacher per 193,975 Alabama residents carried out an illegal sexual relationship, the highest ratio in the country. Educators from the state were accused on 25 occasions in 2014, and Alabama’s smaller population led to their higher batting average.

Texas came in with 116 accusations of misbehaving teachers, the most of any state and nearly 15 percent of the national total. Abbott says that social media plays a huge role in this issue; 35 percent of all relationships between teachers and students use social media to communicate, and according to Abbott “We're seeing many cases in which teachers send students text messages with nude pictures of themselves or inappropriate video.”

While he admits there is margin for error in his data (he amassed media reports to identify each crime), there’s no doubt people like Brianne Altice are out there.
