Mortal Kombat X, the tenth main installment of one of gaming's most iconic franchises, hits shelves April 14 for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS3, and PS4. But you can still enjoy this gorgeous footage of heads getting sliced and diced until then.

NetherRealm Studios dropped a new gameplay trailer of the upcoming title this morning, and it showcases returning characters Princess Kitana, Kung Lao, Raiden, and Goro (who's available if you pre-order the game). Some of the other characters that don't get much screen time include Scorpion, Kano, Quan Chi, and Sub-Zero.

The studio is including just a few aged Mortal Kombat veterans, and is putting emphasis on a new generation of fighters (one of the new characters is Cassie Cage, the daughter of Jonny Cage and Sonya Blade). Series' creator Ed Boon says Fatalities in Mortal Kombat X might be the most "brutal" in the series. "We have these meetings and everyone comes up with ideas for Fatalities," he said. "The ones that people say ‘there’s no way we can do that’—they’re the first ones we work on."

Kiefer Sutherland is said to have a part in the game, but it hasn't been revealed yet. That's cool, but what about the film reboot, though?
