Local News Station Asks Twitter Users to “Salute an Officer”—It Backfires

A news station asked Twitter to "salute an officer" with a photo. As you might expect, it did not go well.

Did you know that tomorrow is “National Law Enforcement Appreciation Day?" Apparently, it is the day we are meant to pay tribute to officers around the country, which given the current tensions may rub some people the wrong way. "Appreciative" is probably not the word you'll hear when asking many people how they feel about their local boys in blue.

But one news station in Washington DC is either unaware or unafraid of any potentially negative response, and suggested on Twitter that followers show their favorite police photos. As you might expect, it did not go well.
