A star of classic TV (perhaps best known to you through Nick at Nite or TVLand) has died, TMZ is reporting.
Donna Douglas, known playing for country-fried bombshell Elly May Clampett on CBS sitcom The Beverly Hillbillies in the 1960s, was 82 years old.
Douglas beat out 500 other actresses to play Elly May, an animal-loving (if oblivious) young woman who rocked a rope as a belt for her blue jeans, according to The Associated Press. Douglas also had roles in other classics turned cable rerun classics Mister Ed and The Twilight Zone, among others.
In 2011 she settled a lawsuit against CBS and Mattel over a Barbie doll that was made to look like Elly May.
