For years people have been pointing out that Disney didn't have a Latina princess. They've had an Asian princess, a Native American princess and an African American princess, hell, they even had mermaid — that's a whole different species of princess — yet not a single human Latina.

Until now. On Thursday Disney unveiled Princess Elena, who comes from "an enchanted fairy tale kingdom inspired by diverse Latin cultures and folklore." Here's hopin' they don't racist this one up somehow.

The only rub? She's not getting a movie, just a spin-off series after an appearance on Sophia the First on Disney Junior. But hey, progress is progress.
