Authorities in Missouri say a five-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed his baby brother yesterday.
CNN reports that Nodaway County Sheriff Darren White said the older boy found the weapon on a bed while his nine-month-old brother was in his playpen at the Elmo, Mo. home. According to CNN, the boys' mother called 911, but told dispatchers that her youngest son had been shot in the head with a paintball gun. Officials later determined that the boy had actually been shot with a .22-caliber Magnum, which reportedly belonged to a relative.
An investigation into the shooting continues, and CNN notes that it remains unknown if any of the adults involved will face charges.
