"The Interview" Is Canceling Its New York City Premiere

The move comes amid violent threats from the Sony hackers.

Amid violent threats against theaters showing The Interview, the film's New York City premiere has been canceled. Earlier today the Sony hackers referenced 9/11 in their threats. Soon after stars Seth Rogen and James Franco canceled their remaining media appearances.

The Department of Homeland Security says there are no "imminent threats," but clearly people are still frightened. Given the measures already taken today, we have to wonder if The Interview will play in theaters as planned. We couldn't blame anyone for deciding not to go see it or theaters for pulling the film from its lineup. Sony has already said theaters can break their commitments to show the film without repercussion.

We'll have more as this story develops.
