It was only a matter of time before Superman got his own prequel series a la Batman with this fall’s Gotham. From what we know about the series so far you’re either going to hate it or love it.

The series, titled Krypton, will be penned by Man of Steel writer David S. Goyer. If you hated Man of Steel then you can stop reading now, unless you didn’t, in that case, keep reading.

Here’s the premise for Krypton:

1.

“Years before the Superman legend we know, the House of El was shamed and ostracized. This series follows The Man of Steel’s grandfather as he brings hope and equality to Krypton, turning a planet in disarray into one worthy of giving birth to the greatest Super Hero ever known.”

There’s one small detail we missed: the series will be on SyFy *cringes.*

Yes, the network best known for Sharknado and other ridiculous, but sometimes awesome, flicks. Maybe it’s bitten off more than it can chew?
