In defense of Mika Brzezinski simply running away when she found out what a furry was, even solemn anchors like Walter Cronkite or Diane Sawyer would probably do exactly the same thing.

This all unfolded during a segment on yesterday’s episode of Morning Joe, wherein along with co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Willie Geist, Brzezinski was reporting on a chlorine gas attack at a Chicago furry convention that sent 19 people to the hospital. Brzezinski flees the scene when she’s told off camera what a furry is, and based on her reaction it’s safe to assume that Scarborough gave her the Entourage-based analysis of the situation.

There was a truly heartwarming moment amongst the chaos, however: the report featured a “group cuddle” designed to keep a baby warm while the furries waited outside for the gas to be eradicated. Ignoring the part where some mother decided it was a good idea to bring a baby to a furry convention in December, it’s at nice to see animals of all shapes and sizes uniting for a common cause and helping others.
