From medical marijuana in New York to recreational marijuana in Colorado, it’s been a big year for pot in these United States.

Marijuana is now decriminalized in 32 states and medical marijuana is gaining traction for legal use and possession. January 1, 2014 marked the first time since 1970–when President Nixon signed the Controlled substances act labeling all forms of  kush a Schedule 1 narcotic–that a state would allow unlimited recreational use of marijuana for people 21 and over. After overwhelming support in the 2012 elections, Colorado's Amendment 64 went into effect earlier this year. Psilocybin mushrooms may start being utilized in the treatment of depression alongside DMT and the stodgy, backward facing drug laws that have ruled this country for more than a century seem finally to be easing. 2014 was a landmark year in drug legalization and legislation and here's to seeing more changes ahead in 2015.
