Over a Dozen Arrested in Connection with 2012 Fungal Meningitis Outbreak

Fourteen people were arrested in Massachusetts this morning due to their involvement in the 2012 fungal meningitis outbreak that killed over 60.

According to the Associated Press, New England Compounding Center co-founders Barry Cadden and Gregory Conigliaro were arrested along with 12 other people for their roles in the outbreak, which killed 64 people in late 2012:  

Gregory Conigliaro and Barry, co-founders of the center in Framingham, were among the 14 arrested at their homes around the state, U.S. attorney's office spokeswoman Christina DiIorio-Sterling said.

The group faces federal charges including racketeering, mail fraud, and "the introduction of adulterated and misbranded drugs into interstate commerce."
