Luckily, taxi service Uber managed to terrify one poor woman in Baltimore, albeit the day after Halloween, when she checked her bank balance and saw she'd been charged $362 for a twenty minute Uber ride home.
Gabrielle Wathen hadn't realised that Uber was charging 9 times the normal rate as part of its 'surge pricing'. Gabrielle had rent due and it was her birthday, so she took the most modern way out and crowdfunded her bill.
