If Superheroes Were From the 16th Century They'd Probably Look Like This

Sacha Goldberger re-imagines your favourite pop culture characters as landed gentry.

None

Fans of Neil Gaiman's visually gorgeous Marvel 1602 will be absolutely beside themselves with glee when they see this. Photographer Sacha Goldberger has asked the hugely important questions"what if superheroes were born in the 16th century? What if the Joker was a Duke? And what if Jan van Eyck had done the portrait of Batman”and compiled the answers in a series of photos he's calling Super Flamands (aka Super Flemish).

OK, so those questions aren't that important. But if you're the kind of person who lives in a world of hypothetical questions and shower thoughts, then maybe it's fairly high on your list of unanswered questions. For example, we now know precisely how cool Batman looks as a member of the aristocracy. Similarly, we now know there was absolutely no period in time when Captain America wasn't a giant, lovable dork.
