As if the allegations being lobbed at Bill Cosby couldn’t get any more unseemly, now there’s this: a source tells Page Six that in order to get a story about his womanizing buried in the summer of 1989, Cosby leaked information about his then-23-years-old daughter’s battle with drug and alcohol abuse.
The Cosby Show was the No. 1 rated show on TV at the time, with Cosby himself regarded as the most wholesome of all the wholesome father figures. The National Enquirer, however, was set to run a story describing Cosby’s penchant for “swinging with Sammy Davis Jr. and some showgirls in Las Vegas.”
Cosby got wind of the story, and allegedly set about giving the Enquirer a different (but equally salacious) headline to run. “My editor told me that daddy Cosby was the source,” said the original, unprinted Cosby story’s author, “He ratted out his flesh and blood.”
True or not, this is yet another highly unflattering accusation surrounding the embattled comedian.
