Man With Weapons in Vehicle Arrested Near White House

The man told police he was instructed to drive to the White House.

A man was arrested near the White House by the Secret Service yesterday afternoon after weapons and ammunition were discovered inside of his vehicle, authorities say.

The Associated Press reports that a hunting rifle, a healthy amount of ammo, and a knife were discovered in the trunk of 41-year-old R.J. Kapheim's vehicle.

According to the Associated Press, the Davenport, Iowa native walked up to officers and told them that he was instructed by an Iowa resident to drive the car to the White House. When they inspected the car, they found the weapons and promptly arrested Kapheim.

Considering the recent string of Secret Service blunders, it's very wise for them to minimize all risks.
