Apparently, even if Marvel wants to act like leaks are all fun and games, they are not messing around.

When the first Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer leaked a couple weeks ago, Marvel simply followed standard procedure and had everyone take it down. When they sent out this tweet afterwards, it seemed like that was the end of things:

Only, it wasn’t.

Behind the scenes, Marvel asked a judge for and was granted a subpoena against Google so that they could trace and identify the leaker. On November 18, Google will be required by law to present the account information and IP address for the user who uploaded the privileged information to Google Drive.

This whole situation is more just Marvel flexing their muscle than anything else. Even though a movie like The Expendables 3 suffered greatly at the box office because of leaks, it’s not like people wouldn’t go see Avengers: Age of Ultron just because they saw the trailer a week early.
