With any actor or actress on the north side of 40 years old, it’s pretty standard to go all-out on makeup whenever someone is going to be seeing his or her face. But Jennifer Aniston doesn’t play that way, and the 45-year-old is loving every minute of it.

For her movie Cake, Aniston ditched all products and went totally au naturale for her role as a woman who survives a bad car accident, and as you can see from the photo above she still looks pretty damn good. She told the audience at Deadline’s “Contenders” panel over the weekend that being free of makeup is “so fabulous—so dreamy and empowering and liberating. The only time I had to sit in the makeup chair was just for the scars.”

While this transformation may not bleed into every role she does, it’s pretty impressive that Aniston has the gumption to do it at all. She’s clearly someone justifiably confident in her acting abilities, and also in the fact that if things don’t work out she’s got Friends residual checks coming in that will sustain her and about 23 future generations.
