Filming has wrapped, thank you notes have been written, and now it’s time for J.J. Abrams and Co. to get down to the business of editing and promoting Star Wars: The Force Awakens. The first trailer is ready to go, but if you want to see its debut, you’re going to have to meet a very specific set of criteria.
You’ll have to:
- Live in Irvine (Calif.), San Diego, Atlanta, Chicago, New York, Warrington (Pa.), Knoxville (Tenn.), Houston, or Seattle
- Go to the movies Thanksgiving weekend
- Make sure to visit a Regal Cinema and buy a ticket for any movie
If you do all that, you’ll get to see the very first Star Wars trailer. Disney has not disclosed when they’re putting it online, so it could be a while before you’re allowed to view it legally. Of course, if someone happens to upload a version onto YouTube, you may find yourself able to check it out this weekend too.
UPDATE: AMC and Cinemark have confirmed that some of their theaters will also be carrying the trailer:
