George R.R. Martin Refutes One “Game of Thrones” Fan Theory

George R.R. Martin refuted a popular "Game of Thrones" theory about his progress with the books.

Whether it’s being open about his writing progress or addressing the haters, George R.R. Martin is clearly aware that people are pretty anxious for him to finish the Song of Ice and Fire books. The series is one full of shadowy conspiracies that keep readers on their toes at all times, and many have gotten to wondering if Martin himself is indeed hiding the biggest one of all.

To wit: what if Martin was actually done with the series already, and was just whipping fans into a frenzy in order to make more money?

Martin discussed this idea with the Huffington Post, saying:

“From my point of view, the craziest one is the people who believe that I’ve actually finished all of the books, and I’m just sitting on them for some reason in order to get more money or increase the value, you know, to release them an appropriate point. That’s a pretty crazy one, but there seem to be people who actually believe that.”

Considering he has already gone on record with his decision not to write an episode of Game of Thrones this upcoming season, Martin seems like he’s telling the truth. If not, well then maybe he is a Lannister after all.
