You may need to readjust your perception of Zach Galifianakis. “Fat/funny guy from The Hangover” might not be an apt description anymore, at least not that very first part.
Making his first public appearance in a full year last night for the screening of his movie Birdman Or The Unexpected Virtue Of Ignorance at the closing of the New York Film Festival, the actor debuted a new, decidedly slimmer look. It’s a lot to take in, especially since the incredible weight loss is coupled with a much shorter beard and shaggier, longer hair.
At a press conference to discuss the movie, Galifianakis touched on why he has been out of the spotlight for so long:
“Being a celebrity is s***ty, it's dumb, and I'm not interested in it. I like to be an actor, and that's it. The blurred lines are, I think, man-made. I think celebrity is a man-made thing; it's not innate in us…I'd rather just do my work and go home and watch Lifetime.”
What he didn’t mention, unfortunately, was his rigorous workout regimen. Obviously, the world needs to know: what’s his secret? Atkins Diet? P90X? Pilates? With results like this, whatever it is may become the next great workout craze.
