His heart was certainly in the right place.

The Coast Guard had to rescue a man attempting to travel from Miami to Bermuda inside of a Hydro Pod.

The brave soul is activist and runner Reza Baluchi, whose goal is to run through 194 countries to inspire others

Reza Baluchi has a dream to run thru all 194 recognized countries in the world to inspire us and unite us as a people. His dream is to share the lives of people around the world with complete transparency. He will broadcast the experience with a live camera and create a film.

His venture to Bermuda was intended to raise money for children, and he initially encountered the Coast Guard on Wednesday when they learned of a man off the coast of Miami who was "disoriented and asking for directions to Bermuda":

In the press release, the Coast Guard said Baluchi had protein bars, bottled water, a GPS and a satellite phone. The Coast Guard conveyed the voyage's dangers and asked Baluchi to quit his journey because he didn't have enough supplies. But he wouldn't leave his vessel, officials said.

Though he attempted to forge ahead, Baluchi was forced to abandon the mission yesterday. A MH-60 helicopter, HC-130 airplane, and the Maersk Montana were sent to rescue him, and an evaluation at a Coast Guard air station did not reveal any injuries.
