Second U.S. Ebola Victim Reportedly Receives Blood Transfusion from Survivor

She's said to be in "clinically stable" condition.

The identity of the nurse who became the second case of Ebola in the United States was revealed yesterday, and now officials are trying to pinpoint how she contracted the disease.

Family members identified 26-year-old Nina Pham to WFAA yesterday. Pham, a nurse at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital in Dallas, helped treat Thomas Eric Duncan after he was diagnosed with the virus last month. Duncan succumbed to Ebola last Wednesday.

Officials say that Pham wore full protective gear while treating Duncan, but authorities are investigating the possibility that she was infected while removing it. Centers for Disease Control Director Tom Frieden said that Pham was "clinically stable, nothing that the only person she had contact with after exhibiting Ebola-like symptoms had been identified. According to the New York Daily News, Frieden said that person hasn't displayed any symptoms.

The Daily News adds that Pham received a blood transfusion from Dr. Kent Brantly, who survived the virus.
