NBC’s Say Anything TV series, based on Cameron Crowe’s 1989 pop culture staple, never stood a chance.
The show was just canned. Say Anything was doomed from the moment Crowe said something on Twitter:
As did the film’s star, John Cusack:
No end to the exploitation of other people's sincere efforts in shameless slime “@auntyK007: @CameronCrowe No imagination for new ideas”
— John Cusack (@johncusack) October 7, 2014
The comedy was supposed to take place ten years after the film in a world where Lloyd and Diane would be rekindling their short-lived romance after graduation.
Guess, “If you don’t have anything nice to say then don’t say anything at all,” doesn’t apply here.
