Authorities report that the FBI apprehended a man before he could venture overseas to join ISIS.

According to the Associated Press, Mohammed Hamzah Khan, 19, of Bolingbrook, Ill. was arrested at O'Hare International Airport on Saturday night. The Chicago Sun-Times adds that Khan purchased a ticket to Turkey last month, and that federal agents discovered a note intended for his parents asking them to "join [him] in the Islamic State."

Khan faces charges of attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization and will remain in custody until Oct. 9, when his next hearing is scheduled.
