Author, activist, and intellectual Dr. Cornel West was arrested during protests in Ferguson, Mo. this afternoon.

The demonstrations were organized in response to the fatal shooting of 18-year-old Michael Brown in the St. Louis Suburb by Ferguson Police Officer Darren Wilson on Aug. 9. Vonderrit Myers, also 18, was shot and killed in St. Louis last week by a city police officer.
