A 17-year-old British boy obsessed with Dexter took things in a very grizzly direction, murdering his girlfriend and dismembering her body earlier this year. He was convicted yesterday and sentenced to 25 years in prison, the maximum sentence allowed under British law due to his being a minor at the time of the killing.

Steven Miles—who The Mirror says has some sort of autistic syndrome—was deemed by psychologists to be neither schizophrenic nor clinically psychotic, and thus was fit to stand trial. His own defense attorney called the act “chilling, blood-curdling, and sustained,” which doesn’t seem like much of a defense at all.

Miles claimed his alter-ego “Ed” instructed him to carry out the act, which doesn’t really align with the plot of Dexter at all. Sounds like he’s just a horrible human being, nothing more.
