A shooting last night left one state trooper dead and another wounded in northeastern Pennsylvania, authorities said.

According to the Associated Press, the incident occurred during a shift change at the Blooming Grove, Pa. barracks. Shots were fired just before 11 p.m., striking two troopers, including one who was leaving the barracks.

Pennsylvania State Police Commissioner Frank Noonan confirmed to the Associated Press that one trooper was killed, while another was transported to Scranton, Pa.'s Geisinger Medical Center. Though he offered few details about the shooting, the Associated Press noted that Noonan said it seemed to be a deliberate attack on the state police.

A search for at least one suspect continues.
