First the FCC came…first they came for Etsy, and I did not speak out —because I was not an Etsy member; then they came for Tumblr, and I did not speak out—because I was not on Tumblr. Then they came for Kickstarter, and I did not speak out —because I wasn't crowd-sourcing a project; then they came for the Netflix, and I did speak out, because nobody fucks with Orange is the New Black.

Today marks the final day for public comment on the FCC's Open Internet proposal. Sites like Netflix, Tumblr, Vimeo, and others have joined together to protest the proposed bill they claim would end Net Neutrality as we know it. Many see the FCC's move as giving cable and telecom giants such as Comcast and Verizon unfair and unwanted control over the speed and quality of the internet. The Open Internet proposal would essentially create a tiered internet with different lanes offering different packages of service. Think about how much you hate your cable company. Think about all the ways they nickel and dime you with 'premium' packages. Now apply that to the internet. Fuck that.

Go here: Battle for the Net and tell your representative that you support a free and open internet.
