The FBI believes they have identified the ISIS militant responsible for beheading two British journalists.

According to the New York Times, FBI Director James B. Comey said that American intelligence agencies have identified a suspect, but will refrain from releasing his name while authorities search for him. The Times adds that technology including voice recognition and overhead imagery have been used in conjunction with official records to single out the suspect.

The Times also notes that the man, nicknamed "Jihadi John," was previously believed to be British rapper Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary, but British officials have refuted that assumption.

The masked, unnamed suspect is said to the man who murdered James Foley and Steve Sotloff on camera in shocking videos that have surfaced over the past month.
