The later career of Christopher Walken looks a lot different from his younger days (think: Deer Hunter vs. “The Continental”), and perhaps there is no greater representation of that than this first image of him as Captain Hook in NBC’s upcoming live version of Peter Pan.
Walken looks borderline absurd with his goatee and hook-hand, and it's hard not to think anything other than "when is Captain Hook going to tell Peter Pan he needs more cowbell?"
By his own admission Walken already lacks a key piece of the role (“I’m not a good singer,” he told EW), and these days basically anything he says is met with uproarious laughter. Is he really going to be able to pull off the villain role and make people actually root against him?
It seems unlikely, but we won’t find out for sure until December 4.
