A Kansas man faces murder charges after leaving his foster daughter in a hot car. Worse, it took the sight of a crying child during the episode of Game of Thrones he was watching to trigger his memory about the girl's whereabouts.

According to the Associated Press, Seth Jackson of Wichita, Kan. left the 10-month-old girl in the car on Jul. 24 after picking her up from a babysitter. The 29-year-old decided to smoke marijuana and watch Game of Thrones afterwards, but after getting halfway through a second episode, a crying child on screen reminded him that he had left the little girl in the car.

Jackson and his partner rushed outside to discover the child "hot and stiff." He called 911 and attempted to administer CPR, but was unable to get her mouth to open. Emergency responders found her unresponsive on the couch and were also unsuccessful in trying to resuscitate her.

The Associated Press adds that Jackson was charged with first-degree murder even though the girl died of hypothermia because she passed away "during the commission of an inherently dangerous felony, aggravated endangering of a child."
