The base is currently in lockdown as the suspect is being pursued. Home to the Combined Arms Support Command, Fort Lee is located just outside Petersburg and is home to over 3000 servicemen and women and their families.
We’ll have more details as they emerge.
UPDATE: NBC News is reporting that the "all clear" has been given at Fort Lee. An Army spokesman said that the shooter had been wounded, and the base's Facebook page said only that "The law enforcement event is over," offering no further details. We'll have more information as it becomes available.
