A calm, peaceful day in Ferguson, Mo. turned into tragedy and chaos as night fell on Sunday. Without warning, police converged on civilians and protestors with an aggression that eclipsed their previous, highly militarized actions earlier in the week. The night reminded everyone watching—and living it—of Aug. 13, the previous high point of police's aggression in Ferguson. The memories of Missouri Highway Patrol Captain Ron Johnson walking alongside protestors were washed away by the sirens and the plumes of poisonous gas.
