A fire tore through rowhouses in Philadelphia this morning, killing four children and leaving over 40 people without homes.
The Associated Press reports that the fire consumed "at least" 10 homes in Southwest Philadelphia around 3 a.m., destroying eight of them. "This is a tragic, tragic day for the city of Philadelphia. Tragic," Fire Commissioner Derrick Sawyer said, according to the Associated Press. "We lost four children today."
A reported 42 people have been left displaced by the blaze, which was finally controlled around 4 a.m. No official word has been given on what caused the fire.
