Five Teenagers Arrested in NYPD Arms Dealing Sting

The NYPD says it uncovered a gun-runners after firearms were sold to undercover officers in Brooklyn. Authorities say five of the accused were teenagers, the youngest of whom was just 16-years-old. 

According to Gothamist, a press release from the Brooklyn District Attorney's Office says the eight defendants had been selling guns to undercover officers in Clinton Hill's Lafayette Gardens. The sales date back to last September, when 30 guns ranging from $600 to $1,000 were purchased. 

Gothamist adds that 19-year-old Aneudy Cruz was responsible for the majority of the sales, in addition to assembling a team of young men and women to make deliveries. The accused face assorted weapons charges, while Cruz faces a maximum of 25 years behind bars if convicted. 

The investigation is ongoing, with police anticipating additional arrests.
