Adult Swim is known for its controversial programming, which is why upcoming series, Black Jesus, will fit in just fine, if it even makes the air that is.

The series hasn’t even premiered yet, but Christian groups are already fighting for the show to be canceled after watching its trailer.

The show, a live-action comedy, was created by Aaron McGruder (The Boondocks) and comes straight outta Compton, where Jesus is currently living.

The network describes the show as:

1.

"...[Jesus is] on a daily mission to spread love and kindness throughout the neighborhood with the help of his small but loyal group of downtrodden followers."

Some of the show's opponents include Illinois pastor David A. Rodgers who said Christians are “vehemently opposed and violently offended,” calling the show "disrespectful" in its portrayal of Jesus.

The manner got very serious when a petition was made on Change.org by a group called the "Christian Network." They asked Adult Swim to cancel the show because it's "offensive" and "racist."

Do you agree? Watch the trailer below.
